Upwork and OpenAI have joined forces to introduce OpenAI Experts on Upwork, a unique platform that facilitates connections between businesses and skilled independent professionals experienced in OpenAI’s environment.
The collaboration between the two companies led to the creation of a program featuring experts proficient in the OpenAI API platform and drawing from Upwork’s vast pool of 250 AI skills, including GPT-4, Whisper, and AI model integration.
OpenAI is already utilizing Upwork’s platform to support its own initiatives and recognizes the value of helping customers find and engage with professionals who can effectively utilize their technology to benefit their organizations.
In a collaborative effort, the companies identified common use cases for OpenAI customers, including building applications powered by large language models, fine-tuning models, and developing chatbots, along with defining the necessary skill sets. They also established a pre-vetting process to identify qualified AI specialists who can participate in the program.
Extending AI Services: OpenAI Experts on Upwork
OpenAI Experts on Upwork expands upon Upwork’s existing AI Services hub, which connects companies with AI professionals and offers beta features and resources to expedite work completion on the platform. Utilizing Upwork’s infrastructure, the program ensures a curated selection of talent with AI expertise and experience in the OpenAI platform.
Dave Bottoms, the general manager and vice president of product for the Upwork Marketplace, envisions strategic partnerships like this as a way to position Upwork as the leading destination for AI-related talent and work.
Upwork’s focus on AI services comes shortly after the platform expanded to include a broader range of general AI offerings and resources. The AI Services Hub facilitates connections with consultants, researchers, developers, and engineers.
Behind the scenes, Upwork has incorporated “generative AI-infused” features, such as an AI-powered job post generator, an enhanced chat experience, and proposal tips for talent.
On the other hand, OpenAI has plans to establish an online marketplace where developers can sell their products utilizing the company’s technology. This initiative aims to foster innovation and create more opportunities for developers within the AI ecosystem.
